How the tea tastes

Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha

Velvety-smooth, rich in umami and naturally sweet. Our Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha comes from the first spring harvest, bringing out Matcha at its most refined. Expect fresh umami with delicate notes of sugar snap peas and a subtle roasted finish. Our favourite way to drink it? Pure. This Matcha doesn’t need much to make an impression.

The perfect brew, made easy

The preparation

Sift the matcha powder into a bowl and add hot (but not boiling) water. Whisk the matcha until it's frothy. For the best results, use M-shaped moves with your wrist rather than a circular move.

The processing of the tea

Three weeks before harvest, the tea plants are shaded from direct sunlight. This helps develop their vibrant green colour and signature sweet, umami-rich taste. After the first spring harvest, stems and veins are removed and the leaves are processed into Tencha. The Tencha is then slowly ground in traditional stone mills into an exceptionally fine Matcha powder.

The origin of the tea

Our Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha comes from Kagoshima at the southern tip of the Japanese volcanic island of Kyushu. Its warm climate and volcanic soils provide ideal conditions for growing high-quality green tea. This is where our most exclusive Ceremonial Matcha begins: first spring harvest, vibrant green and made for enjoying Matcha in its purest form.

Top-Grade Matcha from Japan

Carefully selected, never compromised in quality

Every matcha we offer meets the highest standards you can see and taste — in its flavor, color, and texture. After extensive tastings and careful sourcing in Japan, our tea masters select only matcha that truly meets our expectations: vibrant green color, ultra-fine milling, and a rich, well-balanced umami profile. The quality starts before the harvest. By shading the tea plants, the leaves develop greater depth, more complex flavor, and their signature color. Traditionally stone-ground, this process creates a smooth, creamy texture with a subtle natural sweetness — refined enough to enjoy on its own and bold enough to stand out in a latte. Every batch is rigorously tested to ensure it consistently meets our high quality standards. Thanks to its natural combination of caffeine and L-theanine, matcha delivers steady, long-lasting energy — for clear focus without the typical coffee crash.

FAQ about Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha

Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha represents the highest grade of matcha: a finely ground green tea traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony. It is made from the youngest, most tender leaves of the first harvest (First Flush). Before harvesting, the tea plants are shade-grown, and the leaves are then slowly stone-ground into an exceptionally smooth powder. The result is a mild, naturally sweet, and umami-rich matcha that is best enjoyed on its own.
Ceremonial Grade means only the first spring harvest and only the youngest, topmost tea leaves are used. These leaves are naturally rich in amino acids, including L-theanine, and contain relatively few bitter compounds. This gives the matcha its vibrant green color, creamy texture, and smooth, delicate flavor, the qualities that define high-quality ceremonial matcha.
The main differences come down to leaf quality, flavor, and intended use. Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha is crafted from premium first-harvest leaves and is designed for drinking straight. Organic Premium Matcha has a bolder, slightly more robust flavor that works especially well in baking, smoothies, and matcha lattes, where it can stand out alongside other ingredients.
Yes, 100%. Our Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha comes from Kagoshima in southern Japan, located on the island of Kyushu. The region's warm climate, abundant rainfall, and nutrient-rich volcanic soil create ideal conditions for growing exceptional green tea. Kagoshima is renowned for producing premium Matcha, Gyokuro, and Sencha teas.
Sift about 2 g of matcha into a bowl and add approximately 60 ml of hot, but not boiling, water at around 160°F (70°C). Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk (chasen) for 15 to 20 seconds until a fine layer of foam forms. For best results, whisk using quick M-shaped motions from the wrist rather than stirring in circles.
High-quality ceremonial matcha is identified by its vibrant green color, silky-fine texture, and fresh aroma. When whisked, it produces a smooth, creamy foam. The flavor should be naturally sweet and rich in umami, without excessive bitterness. Japanese origin and a recent harvest are also important indicators of quality.
The best choice depends on how you enjoy your matcha. Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha is made from carefully selected first-harvest leaves and is ideal for traditional preparation and drinking matcha straight. Organic Ceremonial Matcha offers a slightly bolder flavor profile and is perfect for everyday matcha lattes and other matcha-based drinks. Rule of thumb: Pure matcha enjoyment → Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha, Matcha lattes & everyday use → Organic Ceremonial Matcha
Absolutely. Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha creates an exceptionally smooth and delicate latte. However, for everyday lattes, we recommend Organic Ceremonial Matcha, as its fuller flavor pairs especially well with milk and plant-based alternatives. To experience the nuanced flavors of a premium matcha, Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha is best enjoyed on its own.
You'll need a matcha bowl (chawan), a bamboo whisk (chasen), and ideally a fine sieve. Sift 2 g of matcha into the bowl, add about 60 ml of water at 160°F (70°C), and whisk using quick M-shaped motions until frothy. After use, simply rinse the chasen with clean water and allow it to air dry.
Because matcha uses the entire tea leaf, a serving typically contains more caffeine than a traditional green tea infusion. Depending on preparation, a 2 g serving provides approximately 30 to 70 mg of caffeine. Since Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha is made from young first-harvest leaves, caffeine levels are often toward the higher end of that range. Thanks to the naturally occurring L-theanine, many people describe the energy as smoother and more balanced than coffee.
Producing Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha requires exceptional care and craftsmanship. Only the youngest leaves from the first harvest are selected. The plants are shade-grown for several weeks before harvest, the leaves are carefully sorted, and the tea is slowly ground on traditional stone mills, which produce only small amounts of matcha per hour. This meticulous process and limited yield make Organic Signature Ceremonial Matcha more exclusive and more expensive than Organic Ceremonial Matcha or Organic Premium Matcha.
